Leah Johnson, founder of Black Girls Do: Celebrating Black Women in Action® and With Love, Leah, continues to grow her work connecting, supporting, and celebrating Black women, while leading a local initiative to fill 100 Fem Care Boxes for women in need.
Black Girls Do: Celebrating Black Women in Action® was created “to celebrate, connect, and elevate Black women in action; those doing the work, building community, and showing up authentically in every space they occupy.” What began as a social storytelling platform has grown into a movement amplifying Black women’s creativity, leadership, and visibility across industries.
From that foundation, Johnson launched With Love, Leah, offering experience design consulting, event production, and community strategy. Guided by the proprietary WLL Method, the business transforms one-time events into recurring, measurable, and revenue-generating experiences.
“What sets us apart is our intentional approach to community building. We don’t just create events, we design culturally grounded experiences that center connection, representation, and measurable impact.”
Her work includes the monthly series Nice To Meet Her, an after-work happy hour for Black queer women, and Co-Work & Connect, a daytime experience for Black women across creative and professional industries. Large-scale nightlife events further establish her reputation for curating inclusive, intentional, and culturally rich spaces.
Looking ahead, Johnson is expanding With Love, Leah through licensing and scalable partnerships. “Our goal is to make what we’ve built locally—the feeling of belonging, visibility, and celebration—accessible nationally,” she said. “We’re not just growing events; we’re growing a movement.”
Community care remains central to her work. In 2022, she filled 100 Fem Care Boxes for students at Girls Global Academy. This year, the 2025 Fem Care Boxes Initiative will benefit N Street Village, which supports women experiencing homelessness in D.C. Community members can participate by purchasing hygiene and toiletry items from the Amazon wishlist to help complete all 100 boxes.
“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on this journey is that you don’t need all of the pieces to start—you just need the courage to move with what you have,” Johnson said. On legacy, she added: “The long-term impact I want my work to have is simple: a reminder to just build your own—no permission needed. Through With Love, Leah and Black Girls Do: Celebrating Black Women in Action®, I’m creating a blueprint that shows future generations of Black women entrepreneurs that you don’t have to wait for validation or access to create something meaningful.”
“You can build it yourself—with intention, integrity, and community. My hope is that the spaces and systems we’re creating today inspire other women to take up space, lead boldly, and know that what they’re building is already enough. We’re not just curating experiences; we’re building legacy through self-determination.”
Through Black Girls Do: Celebrating Black Women in Action® and With Love, Leah, Johnson continues to create connection, visibility, and impact for Black women—inviting everyone to participate in her work and the 2025 Fem Care Boxes Initiative.
