Brittany Washington, founder and CEO of My Beautiful Fluff, is creating products and spaces that help women, especially plus-size women and women with natural hair, feel seen, celebrated, and confident. Based in Davenport, Iowa, Brittany started her brand to address a lack of representation in fashion, beauty, and self-care spaces
"My Beautiful Fluff was born after years of noticing I—and so many women like me—weren’t reflected in products or messaging,”
What began as a search for affirming apparel and accessories evolved into a lifestyle brand anchored in self-love, inclusivity, and community. The brand offers inclusive apparel, body-positive journals and coloring books, beauty tools, and giftable self-care items, all designed to affirm women who are often overlooked. Real women from her community are featured in designs and storytelling, allowing customers to see themselves in every product.
“Our products don’t just say ‘body-positive’, they show it.”
Community is at the heart of My Beautiful Fluff. A recent milestone came when the brand was stocked at Honey & Hue, a Black woman-owned bookstore in Chicago that curates mission-driven brands. “Growth doesn’t always come from chasing trends—it comes from connection, trust, and showing up authentically,” Brittany reflects.
Looking ahead, Brittany is preparing to launch a cut-and-sewn inclusive apparel line up to 7XL, built for comfort, proper fit, and dignity. “Too often, women above a certain size are excluded or treated as an afterthought. This line is our response to that gap,” she says.
Beyond products, Brittany shares journals and coloring books with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations, spreading tools for self-reflection, mental wellness, and confidence. She also partners with other Black- and women-owned businesses through pop-ups and retail collaborations, keeping community at the center of growth.
For other Black women entrepreneurs, Brittany advises:
"Find your community and don’t try to do this alone. The right people will open doors, share resources, and remind you that you’re not behind, you’re building."
Brittany’s legacy is clear: “I want future generations of women—especially Black women and plus-size women—to grow up knowing they are enough and that their bodies are beautiful exactly as they are. If My Beautiful Fluff helps even one woman see herself differently or inspires another to build what she once needed, then that legacy has done its job.”
Through My Beautiful Fluff, Brittany continues to create connection, representation, and confidence for women inviting everyone to celebrate themselves and each other in the process.
